Ginger and Rosa

This summer is turning me down cinematic wise, i mean if you want to stop all the good shows(well almost all the good shows) you gotta have good things on big screen, but except for some animations and some super hero movies nothing more ( i am pretty sure i am offending some audience ;P)

to cut the nagging short i decided to rent a movie and watch it (with my mom which was NOT a good idea). It has been a while since my movie list was piling up and i just rented the one on top of my list which was Ginger and Rosa.

The movie is a wanna be complicated relationship between two teenage girls in 1940s right when the anti nuclear bombs activist started protesting. One of the girls(Rosa) is from a strict family which made a rebel out of her in all the wrong ways and the other one(Ginger) is from a pacifist father and an artist mother. They have always been best friends spending every minute of their lives together but eventually Ginger starts setting her path by becoming an activist, attending meetings and writing and Rosa starts partying and sleeping around and one day Ginger finds out that Rosa is with her dad which ruins her world for her.

Well that was the whole thing, it was not a sophisticated movie or didn't have beautiful dialogues or incredible scenes. But i particularly like movies that are about young girls problems so i didn't hate it.

I don't want to recommend this and let yourself decide ;DDD

5.5/10 is probably enough and even a little bit biased.

Shaun of the dead

In our very normal daily discussions of our PhD life, i realized i have no idea about zombies, well i kinda knew they are very dangerous dead people but nothing more therefore as a literature study this movie was prescribed to me which was supposed to be a good PG 13 zombie movie to start with.

The movie in general is about a normal boring inertial guy whose relationship is about to be ruined because of his passiveness and his lazy friend. Suddenly he becomes the hero of a rising of the zombies. the character is played by Simon Pegg whom i love and find very funny.

The zombie part of the movie is very kid(me)-friendly and very informative, like i realized zombies die by having their head cut off or if a zombie bites you, you die and rise as a zombie(kinda like vampires, but vampires are much more sexy). This movie has a very subtle comedy theme and not boring at all. I liked the acts and the fact that it got 8/10 on imdb shows that i am not the only one who likes it.all the characters are in their own way weird, but it also has its own cheesy scenes.

But definitely, if you know you wont be disappointed by how not scary this movie is i recommend it to watch and give 6.5/10 to it.

Cloud Atlas

If you think i stopped watching movie, well you are kinda right, a month ago i found a TV serie called "Mad Men" which i am going to talk about in another post, and i absolutely fell in love and been watching it ever since, I had 6 season of 13 episode each and i still have 5 more episodes, but last night i decided that i need to watch a movie and i rented cloud atlas.

To begin with, please start watching this movie when you are going to have 3 hour free time because it LONG.

I watched this movie with my mom and she is a fan of action movies and special effects ( I am not) , and she enjoyed those parts of the movie. But for me, it was a series of different events which could be connected somehow to each other, but still it wouldn't make you say : "OHHH, that is what is happening, now it make sense ."

The movie consists of 3 or 4 main characters in 4 or 5 different places and times, meeting each other. One in a tribe far from civilization , one in 70s, one in 2012 and one if the future.in all of them somehow humanity is being save from destruction.

It was not a deep movie and carried no special message , which i guess was the main effort that was failed. The scenery were pretty, some action, some romance, but to me it felt like a patch quilt, but not a very pretty one. I am sure the budget for this movie was huge but for me it, specially the length of the movie and the fact that it could finish at so many times during the movie without you thinking what happened nex.

Maybe the whole point of the movie was watching it on wide screen and 3D, I wouldn't know.
